Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP)
The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) is a two-year senior cycle programme that builds on the traditional Leaving Certificate by placing a strong emphasis on enterprise, employability skills and preparation for the world of work.
At St Vincent’s Secondary School, LCVP combines the academic strengths of the
established Leaving Certificate with practical, real-world learning. Since September 2022,
all senior cycle students are eligible to take LCVP alongside their Leaving Certificate subjects.
Programme Structure
LCVP students study the same subjects as Leaving Certificate students and, in addition, take two Link Modules:
Preparation for the World of Work Enterprise Education
These modules focus on developing skills such as communication, teamwork, initiative, problem-solving and self-directed learning.
Assessment
LCVP is assessed through:
A Portfolio of Coursework (60%), submitted in March of 6th Year
This includes items such as a CV, work experience diary and enterprise report A written examination (40%), held in May of 6th Year
CAO Points
LCVP results may be used to supplement CAO points, awarded as follows:
